Salò was a capital during the Venetian rule. Its name became famous since 1943, when it became the seat of Fascist dictatorship for 600 days. Among its palaces, one worth to mentioning is the Captain’s Palace, the seat of the Venetian “Magnifica Patria”. The first building was built by Jacopo Sansovino and then completely rebuilt in 1901 after an earthquake.

The cathedral, which is dedicated to the cult of “Santa Maria Annunziata”, was erected in the XV century and contains numerous artistic masterpieces.
