In the town of Montinelle inside the Manerba district, there is the archaeological park of Valtenesi, an open-air museum that extends for about 90 hectares inside a nature reserve and houses different species of both animal and plant biodiversity.

A section of the museum contains fragments and archaeological objects that are located in the different places of the town. The museum windows depict the reconstruction of a burial chamber, found under another rock, known as the “Riparo Valtenesi”. On the upper floor, there is an interesting illustration about the formation of the lake from its origins throughout the geological eras until today.

On the top of a rocky wall overlooking the lake, there are the remains of an ancient military castle that was demolished in the 16th century because it had become a refuge for criminals. From this cliff, it is possible to enjoy a breath-taking view of the blue water and the surrounding peaks like the “Monte Baldo” and “Monte Pizzocolo”.
