Limone is located on the border between the Lombardy and Trentino-Alto-Adige regions  and its name may be traced back to the Latin word “Limen” (border).

In the past, Limone lived on a rural economy linked to olive trees and fishing. However, as its name suggests, it was also known for the production of citrus fruits thanks to a microclimate, which maintains a mild temperature even in winter. In1932, with the opening of the Garda road, the town was connected with Riva del Garda, thus definitively losing its infrastructural isolation.

Limone holds the record for being the most northern site in the world, in which citrus is cultivated. Until the post-war period, the economy of this village was based on fishing and farming, but it quickly turned into one of the most renowned tourist centres of Lake Garda.

The COMPARTE tour includes a walk on the suspended walkway, a stroll through the hamlets of the centre with their historical curiosities, and a tasty stop at the “NON SOLO VINO” winery for a traditional food and wine tasting with the Zanetti family.
